If you find that you have been volunteered into taking the pictures of a friend’s baby shower then congratulations for you are going on an adventure. However, there are a few things that you need to get ready before the day of the party.
The first thing that you have to consider is to bring all things extra regarding equipment for this will make you prepared for whatever emergencies. These extras include an extra camera and extra films, and if you have a digital one, an extra memory card and an extra charger, you also need extra batteries for the manual camera or for the flash. Pack all of these in a roomy bag at least the day before the party. This way you can organize better, you can check if you lack anything and all you need to do is to pick up and go without having to scramble around at the last minute.
Second, talk to the mother to be about what pictures she wants taken. The pictures should be those images which could be sent to all the friends and family members who were able to attend the party and those absent. These pictures will help the all remember the occasion better.
Try to take candid pictures for these will reveal the emotions at the party. The pictures taken in this fashion will be viewed as fun and ridiculous all at the same time without negative effects.
Pretend that you are the paparazzi of the mother-to-be. Take pictures where she is in games, talks, meals, etc. again, posed and candid would do great. Remember, the pictures are for posterity and not for glamour or art.
Once the pictures are taken, have them developed immediately so the all could get their copies fast. The worst thing that could ever happen is to receive photographs of events that happened one year past.
