Photography Basics – Learning How to Focus

Have you ever noticed that great images caught on film are focused more on the eyes of the person or animal? Whether it is a beautiful face or an astounding looking fish, if the eyes are in focus, the image gets more interesting?

One of the most basic techniques when it comes to photography is the focusing on the eyes. This is a basic technique where the rest of the body is slightly blurred while the eyes are very clear. The eyes are considered the window to the soul so it gives the image more character. You can use a traditional lens, not an autofocus one, and learn to adjust the lens until you get the focus. If the focus is overdone, the picture will not be what is expected by the photographer.

You can also achieve depth perception images by tweaking on the focus. You can focus on a near object and then make the background slightly blurred. This depth perception is a nice way of presenting a picture for it gives it more character.

One of the most interesting ways to take the picture of a woman or a man is to make their eyes the main focus of the picture, so even if they have beautiful features or are considered ugly by some, with the focus on the eyes, their picture would come out really fancy.

Unfortunately focusing is a technique which is gradually dying for more and more photographers simply go for Photoshop and no images are true anymore. In fact, this software can alter images to such an extent that some of those in the picture are no longer recognizable.

Connect with the viewer by making them focus their attention on the eyes of the one being photographed. These singling out of the eyes makes the image stand out and can have a striking effect.
